Dr Michael Bates Josephine Inge Lance Scott Josephine is a lawyer and her focus is on patent, trade mark protection and commercialisation. She comes from a background in science research, having completed an honours degree in pharmacology.
Josephine then commenced a PhD in pharmacology before leaving research to pursue a career in medical journalism.
Josephine then spent 10 years as the Managing Editor of the peer reviewed medical journal Modern Medicine (now called Medicine Today). While working in medical publishing, she also completed a law degree and subsequently worked in the IP group of a leading Sydney corporate law firm where she co-ordinated a biotech focus group, handled multi-national trade mark and general IP portfolios, and was actively engaged in IP enforcement work (including advising on counterfeiting and IP infringement issues and settling IP disputes), IP due diligences and portfolio reviews, drafting and reviewing IP commercial agreements and transactional work (e.g. IP aspects of corporate mergers & acquisitions and floats, sale or transfer of IP assets, IP licensing deals), Trade Practices and other regulatory work, including advertising clearance and regulatory compliance issues.Josephine was seconded to a client for a significant period where she was the sole legal practitioner and looked after a broad range of IP and general commercial issues.
Josephine has authored many articles, including for legal and scientific (biomedical) publications, including peer-reviewed publications.She is also a keen photographer and was accepted into the prestigious London Institute to study photojournalism.
